Terms & Conditions

RoadRaven Driving School – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) form the agreement between RoadRaven Driving School (“we”, “us”, “our”) and the pupil (“you”, “your”) for the provision of driving tuition services. By booking or taking lessons with RoadRaven Driving School, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Eligibility and Fitness to Drive
  • You must hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence and present it at your first lesson, and at intervals upon request.
  • Any changes to your licence (such as medical restrictions or endorsements) must be communicated immediately.
  • You must meet DVSA eyesight requirements (e.g. being able to read a number plate from 20.5 metres). Glasses or contact lenses must be worn if required.
  • You must not attend lessons under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any prescribed medication that may impair your driving.
  • Suitable clothing and practical footwear must be worn for safety.
  • If you fail to meet any of the above conditions, the lesson will be cancelled and charged in full.
Lessons & Pricing
  • Manual tuition: £40 per hour.
  • Automatic tuition: £44 per hour.
  • Block bookings (paid in advance):
Manual: £380 for 10 hours
Automatic: £420 for 10 hours
  • Block bookings must be paid in full, in advance, and are valid for six months from purchase. All 10 hours must normally be used within 6 weeks unless otherwise agreed. Lessons not used within this period may be forfeited.
  • Block bookings are non-transferable and non-refundable once commenced.
Payments
  • Lesson fees must be paid in advance or at the start of each lesson.
  • Payments may be made in cash or card.
  • Pre-paid lessons will be honoured at the rate paid, even if prices change.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
  • A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
  • Less than 48 hours’ notice: 50% of the lesson fee is payable.
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: 100% of the lesson fee is payable.
  • For block bookings, late cancellations will result in hours being deducted.
  • If we cancel a lesson (e.g. illness, breakdown, severe weather), we will reschedule at no cost.
  • Weather-related cancellations will be decided by the instructor. If the instructor deems it safe to drive but you cancel, the lesson will be chargeable.
Lessons & Punctuality
  • Lessons are one-to-one unless agreed otherwise. A parent or friend may accompany with prior consent.
  • The full lesson time will be provided. If you are late, the time lost cannot be recovered. If your instructor is late by more than 10 minutes, lost time will be added to that lesson or a future lesson.
  • Pick-up and drop-off points can be agreed if within the instructor’s working area and arranged in advance.
Driving Tests
  • Test bookings with the DVSA are your responsibility.
  • Use of the instructor’s car for a test is at the instructor’s discretion and depends on readiness and vehicle availability.
  • Standard lesson and test-day fees apply.
  • In the interests of safety, the instructor may refuse car use for a test if you are not at test standard.
Damage to Vehicle
  • Every effort will be made by the instructor to prevent damage during lessons.
  • If, in the instructor’s opinion, you cause damage through dangerous or reckless driving, you may be liable for up to 50% of the repair costs, capped at the insurance excess level.
  • For driving tests, any damage caused will be your responsibility (up to the insurance excess).
Liability & Penalties
  • All tuition vehicles are insured for tuition and test purposes.
  • RoadRaven Driving School cannot be held liable for fines, penalties, or offences committed by the pupil.
  • We accept no liability for mechanical or electrical failure during lessons or tests, or for consequential losses (e.g. missed work, travel costs).
Behaviour & Conduct
  • Aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behaviour towards instructors or staff will not be tolerated and may result in termination of tuition without refund.
  • You are expected to act responsibly and respectfully during lessons.
Holidays & Availability
  • Your instructor will provide reasonable notice of holidays or days unavailable.
  • You must give notice of your own holidays or breaks to maintain your place in the schedule.
Data Protection
  • We collect and store personal information only as necessary to provide our services, in compliance with UK GDPR.
  • Your data will not be shared with third parties unless required by law.
Complaints
  • Complaints should first be raised with your instructor.
  • If unresolved, they may be escalated in writing to RoadRaven Driving School management.
  • If still unresolved, you may refer the matter to the DVSA’s Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors.
